Retirement Planning

Retirement planning is hard work! Our clients tend to have just one financial question regarding retirement: How much money am I going to need? To answer that question, you will need to know (1) how much money you would like to have available each year, and (2) the number of years you intend to be retired. As you can imagine, the answer will be different for each client.

At SPA, we do not engage in "one size fits all" answers. Instead, we encourage our clients to consider (1) their current standard of living and (2) what, if any, adjustments they are willing to make to their standard of living during retirement. Regardless of your answers to these questions, proper planning for your retirement years is essential.

Retirement planning today is a careful balance of saving money, investing wisely, and managing current lifestyle expenses. At SPA, we make it our business to help our clients decipher the variety of retirement savings options available to them. Some common options include:

  • Employer sponsored qualified savings plans such as:
    • 401(k) plans
    • 403(b) plans
    • 457 plans
  • Employer sponsored non-qualified savings programs
  • Non- employer sponsored savings plans such as:
    • Traditional IRA
    • Roth IRA

Note:  Many of these retirement plan programs are available to SPA clients through Brinker Capital, an independent third party money manager that focuses on these services.  SPA advisors can use the Brinker resources as financial advisers of Eagle Strategies LLC, which has an agreement with Brinker.
